The first experimental factor included two potato cultivars: Oberon and Malaga, the second one being an application of the following biostimulants: PlonoStart, Aminoplant, Agro-Sorb Folium and the herbicide Avatar 293 ZC (clomazone + metribuzin). The polyphenol content of potato tubers was determined in the fresh tuber mass by the spectrophotometric method with the Folin-Ciocalteu reagent. The tuber content of polyphenols was affected by cultivars and test biostimulants. Cv. Malaga accumulated more polyphenols than cv. Oberon. Biostimulants + herbicide significantly increased an accumulation of polyphenolic compounds compared with tubers cultivated in the control unit which was not treated with the test products.

The experiment was carried out in three repetitions in a split-plot system. The factors of the experiment were three morphotypes of winter oilseed rape: population, long-stemmed, semi-dwarf. The second factor of the experiment were three ways of using the preparations: 1. Control, 2. Soil conditioner, 3. Inorganic biostimulator containing PK, 4. Si biostimulant (plant resistant biostimulant). The aim was to investigate whether the use of soil preparations containing microorganisms and micro- and macro-elements or the foliar application of stimulants containing phosphorus, potassium and silicon would have a better effect on the quality of seeds, i.e.: total protein, crude fat and crude fibre of three different morphotypes of winter oilseed rape. The research showed that the highest concentration of total protein and crude fat was found in the semi-dwarf heterosis morphotype, while the population form had the highest content of crude fibre. In all tested cultivars, after the application of preparations containing potassium and phosphorus and on objects where silicon was used, there was a significant decrease in protein concentration. Research has shown that the best feed and utility value of seeds was obtained in areas where phosphorus and potassium were applied in a foliar manner. However, in the case of the traditional variety and the long-stemmed hybrid, the differences in fat content were statistically insignificant in all objects with biostimulating preparations, while in the case of the semi-dwarf hybrid, this tendency was demonstrated only in the objects with the organic and silicon-containing preparations. All of the tested cultivars were distinguished by the highest concentration of total protein, fat and crude fibre as well as fibre in the season with the lowest annual rainfall.

A three-year field research study was conducted at the Agricultural Experimental Station Zawady (52°03' N; 22°33' E). The field experiment was set up in a split-plot design with three replicates. The first factor was the two edible potato cultivars, and the second was five methods of mechanical and chemical treatments with biostimulants: (1) control object-mechanical weeding, (2) the herbicide Avatar 293 ZC (clomazone + metribuzin), (3) the herbicide Avatar 293 ZC and the biostimulant PlonoStart, (4) the herbicide Avatar 293 ZC and the biostimulant Aminoplant, (5) the herbicide Avatar 293 ZC and the biostimulant Agro-Sorb Folium. Before emergence, the control object was double ridging and single ridging with harrowing and double ridging after emergence. On other objects (2-5) before emergence, two ridgings were applied. The assessment of weed infestation was performed using the quantitative weight method on two dates: about 2 weeks after the application of the herbicide and biostimulants and before the potato tubers harvest. The herbicide and the herbicide with biostimulants applied to the potato crop showed a positive influence in reducing the number and fresh weight of weeds compared to mechanical-only treatments. The highest effectiveness, calculated on the basis of the number and fresh mass of weeds, was found on the fifth object. It was, on average, 70.5 and 71.6% for cultivars, respectively. Research into the use of biostimulants in potato cultivation will continue due to the pro-environmental nature of biostimulants and the importance of this crop. It is certain that the methodology of future field experiments will meet the challenges of sustainable development.

Field research was carried out in the years 2016-2018 with an application of biostimulants in individual farm in Poland. The experiment was led by means of a split-plot method. The impact of two factors was tested. The first-order factor were the three cultivars of edible potato: Jelly, Honorata, Tajfun, while of the second-order four variants of applying biostimulants: Kelpak SL, Titanit, GreenOk, BrunatneBio Złoto. Potato plants were treated with biostimulators three times (beginning of flowering, full flowering and after plant flowering). The polyphenol content was determined by spectrophotometric method with Folin-Ciocâlteu reagent in fresh potato tuber mass. The content of polyphenols in tubers depended on the cultivars and biostimulants. Among the studied cultivars, Jelly accumulated the most polyphenols and Tajfun the least. Biostimulants increased the concentration of phenolic compounds compared to tubers from the control treatment.

A field experiment was carried out in 2008-2010 on soil of a very good rye complex. The soil reaction ranged from slightly acidic to acidic (pH in 1 n KCl was 4.81-5.91), and the soil was very suitable for potato cultivation. The experiment was arranged as a two-factorial split-plot design with three replicates. The trial included the following two factors: I - two edible potato cultivars (Satina and Tajfun), II - five UGmax application methods (1. control without UGmax, 2. UGmax applied prior to tuber planting at the rate of 1.0 dm3 ha-1 , 3. UGmax applied prior to tuber planting at the rate of 0.5 dm3 ha-1 followed by two foliar applications at the rate of 0.25 dm3 ha-1 , 4. UGmax applied prior to tuber planting at the rate of 1.0 dm3 ha-1 followed by two foliar applications at the rate of 0.5 dm3 ha-1 , 5. two foliar applications of UGmax at the rate of 0.5 dm3 ha-1 ). Random tuber samples from 10 plants were collected in each plot, and used to conduct chemical analysis and assess tuber consumption-related characteristics. The soil conditioner UGmax beneficially affected tuber content of starch and vitamin C, and slightly enhanced after-cooking darkening compared with control tubers. Weather conditions in the study years significantly affected dry matter, starch, and vitamin C content as well as raw flesh darkening and after-cooking darkening of tubers. Under the weather conditions in 2010, when precipitation was abundant, the contents of the components studied were the lowest but raw flesh darkening and aftercooking darkening were more intense due to a higher accumulation of reducing sugars.

The aim of the study was an assessment of the effect of using various sowing methods and types of applied biostimulators on pre-dormancy plant habit as well as on overwintering of three types of winter rape cultivars. Material and methods. A field experiment was carried out in a split-split-plot design in three replications. The studied factors included: I - three cultivars of winter rape: Monolit (population cultivar), PR 44D06 (restored hybrid cultivar with a semi-dwarf type of growth), PT 205 (restored hybrid cultivar with a conventional type of growth); II - two sowing methods: row spacing of 22.5 cm (row sowing - sowing density of 60 seeds per 1 m2 ), row spacing of 45.0 cm (single seed sowing - sowing density of 40 seeds per 1 m2 ); III - three types of applied biostimulators: control variant (without an application of biostimulators), TytanitŽ biostimulator, AsahiŽSL biostimulator, SilvitŽ biostimulator. Results. Biostimulators applied in the experiment affected an increase in the number of leaves per rosette, root collar diameter, height of elevation of shoot apex as well as taproot length compared with the control plot. The highest values of morphological traits of plants determined in autumn before inhibition of growth as well as plants most complete winter survival were obtained under conditions of spraying with Asahi SL biostimulator, applied at the stage BBCH 13-15. The population cultivar overwintered better in comparison to the two heterotic cultivars, produced rosettes with a higher number of leaves (on average 8.4 leaves), a thicker root collar (on average 7.9 mm), as well as a longer taproot (on average 17.3 cm).The smallest plant losses occurred in cultivar Monolit after winter dormancy. Sowing method did not affect this trait of plant habit. Conclusion. Asahi SL biostimulator significantly affected an increase in all morphological traits of the leaf rosette determined in autumn before inhibition of growth, when compared with the control variant. The restored hybrid morphotypes: PR 44D06 and PT 205, compared with the population cultivar Monolit, were characterized by a poorer autumn development of the leaf rosette. Diversified climatic conditions in the autumn-summer periods of vegetation and in the winter dormancy in the years of the research affected plant habit. The experiment was set in the split-split-plot system in three repetitions. The studied factors were: I - three varieties of oilseed rape: Monolit (population variety), PR 44D06 (hybrid restored variety with a semi-dwarf growth type), PT 205 (hybrid restored variety with a traditional growth type). II - two ways of sowing: 22.5 cm spacing (row sowing - density of sowing 60 seeds per 1 m-2), 45.0 cm spacing (point sowing - density of sowing 40 seeds per 1 m-2). III - four types of bio-stimulators used: the control object (without the use of bio-stimulators), TytanitŽ bio-stimulator, AsahiŽSL bio-stimulator, SilvitŽ bio-stimulator. The aim of the study was to determine the impact of the types of used bio-stimulators and the way of sowing on the fresh and dry mass of plants (rosette, root) of three varieties of winter oilseed rape. The fresh and dry mass of the aboveground part of rosette and the fresh and dry mass of the root system depended significantly on the genetic factor, types of used bio-stimulators and atmospheric conditions prevailing in the individual years of research. From the cultivated varieties, the largest fresh and dry mass of the aboveground part of 1 rosette (on average of 33.3 g and 6.34 g) and the fresh and dry mass of the root system of 1 plant (an average of 7.97 g and 2.30 g) characterised the population morphotype - Monolit. Types of the bio-stimulators used significantly impact the increased values of these characteristics. The greatest fresh and dry mass of plants (rosette, root) was noted on object 3, on which the Asahi SL bio-stimulator was used. Projekt/grant: Badania statutowe : UPH Siedlce, Nr 363/S/13

The experiment was a two-factor splitplot arrangement with three replicates. The following factors were examined: three cultivars: Cekin, Satina, Tajfun, and four weed control methods based on an application of herbicides or their mixtures: Command 480 EC 0.2 dm3ˇha-1, Dispersive Afalon 450 SC 1.0 dm3ˇha-1, Stomp 400 SC 3.5 dm3ˇha-1 and no herbicide control. The aim of the study was to determine the effect of cultivars and herbicides mixtures on edible potato tuber contents of magnesium and potassium. Analysis demonstrated that genetic characteristics of the cultivars significantly affected magnesium content. The highest amount of magnesium was accumulated by Tajfun, on average 1.832 g kg-1, and the lowest by Cekin, on average 1.601 g kg-1. Also, variance analysis demonstrated a significant effect of weed control methods on magnesium content in potato tubers. Results of the study revealed that Tajfun and Cekin had, respectively, the highest and lowest potassium concentrations, on average 20.62 and 16.41 g kg-1. The herbicides and their mixtures applied in the experiment were found to significantly affect potato tuber dry matter content of potassium. A combination of mechanical and chemical weed control contributed to a decline in potassium content from 0.740 to 1.270 g kg-1, on average. Statistical analysis demonstrated that edible potato tuber content of potassium was significantly influenced by meteorological conditions in the study years.
