The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of COVID-19 on maintaining balance in highly skilled athletes. As part of a larger investigation that was initiated in 2019, twelve professional handball players were recruited to participate in a study that was designed to measure static balance performance. Following the initial pre-test, six participants (body height 184.8 ą 4.7 cm; body weight 85.5 ą 3.3 kg; age 21.3 ą 1.2 years) were infected with COVID-19. The remaining six participants (body height 188.7 ą 2.6 cm; body weight 92.3 ą 3.7 kg; age 26.3 ą 3.3 years) never tested positive for COVID-19 and were presumably not infected with the virus. The experimental design required all the participants to complete an initial balance assessment (pre-test) and a later balance assessment (post-test). To fully analyze our data, we conducted a 2 (condition: COVID, no-COVID) X 2 (test: pre-test, post-test) ANOVA with repeated measures on the second factor. Our analysis revealed that the skilled athletes who contracted COVID-19 had a significant decrease in balance performance from the pre-test that occurred prior to being infected with COVID-19 relative to the post-test that occurred following the COVID-19 infection. Additionally, the skilled athletes who were not infected with COVID-19 did not demonstrate the same deterioration in balance performance in the same period. This study highlights the impact COVID-19 has on static balance performance in a group of highly skilled handball players. Longitudinal studies are needed to fully understand the lasting impacts COVID-19 has on motor behavior.

Nutrition of athletes and physically active people is an area which, taking into account various physiological and biochemical aspects, should allow for the fastest possible adaptation of the body in response to a training stimulus. Vitamin D contributes to maintaining the effi ciency of the musculoskeletal system, by affecting the bone mineralization and muscle mass, strength and endurance. Aim. The aim of the study was to assess the content of vitamin D in physically active diets of students from Biała Podlaska and athletes training in Tri-city sports centers. Material and methods. The research was conducted in 2017 and 2018 by means of a diagnostic survey using the author's interview questionnaire. The research covered 121 physically active students from Biała Podlaska (104 women (K) and 17 men (M) and 50 athletes (24 K and 26 M) from various disciplines from Tri-City sports centers in Gdańsk. weekly, and their training usually lasts an hour in the group of women and one and a half in the group of men. The results of the survey were developed in Microsoft Excel, and the daily food rations of respondents were analyzed using the program "Diet 5" (IŻŻ in Warsaw). Results. The energy value of all-day food rations varied; in the group (M) of students, 2,298 kcal, and in the group of sportsmen, 2,414 kcal, and in the group (K) the student diet provided an average of 1493 kcal, and sportsmen an average of 1747 kcal. The content of vitamin D in the diets of the subjects was insuffi cient; in the student and student groups it amounted on average to 1.81 ą 1.35 (0.28 to 8.45) and 2.92 ą 2.12 (0.58-7.77) ľg/person/day, while in groups of athletes it was slightly higher and amounted to: K: 2.69 ą 2.41 (0.12-11.64) and M: 4.40 ą 3.52 (0.42-13.6) ľg/person/day. Conclusions. The average content of vitamin D in the analyzed food rations of all students and athletes was defi nitely insuffi cient in relation to nutritional recommendations.
