Nr opisu: gmin wiejskich z makroregionu Polski Wschodniej. Ponadto do głównych czynników wpływających na stabilność finansową analizowanych gmin zaliczono migrację i strukturę wi Autorzy: , . of the study was to identify the determinants of financial stability of rural communes from the Eastern Poland macroregion. Particular attention was paid to the awareness of the impact of specific groups of factors on the financial stability of an entity and to the identification of the main economic, institutional, socio-demographic and spatial-environmental determinants of the financial stability of communes. To achieve the aim, the method of analysis and criticism of literature and the method of diagnostic survey using a survey questionnaire were used. The survey was conducted among representatives of the executive body (mayors) of rural communes from the Eastern Poland macroregion. The research covered 349 rural communes from five voivodeships located in the Eastern Poland macroregion. Based on the conducted research, it was found that in the opinion of local authorities, internal factors have a greater impact on the level of stability of their communes than external factors. The main determinants of the financial stability of rural communes in the Eastern Poland macroregion were indicated as: the structure of the local economy, the number of enterprises operating in the area of ??the studied commune, the division of public tasks and competences between various levels of public authority and the repartition of financial resources between the state and the commune. Moreover, the main factors influencing the financial stability of the analysed communes include migration and the age structure of the inhabitants of a given commune as well as the nature and location of the unit.^amakroregion^alocal government unit

The presence of ticks in urban greenery is a particularly important public health concern due to the potential for humans and companion animals to be exposed to tick-borne diseases there. The study assessed the prevalence of Borrelia burgdorferi and Anaplasma phagocytophilum infection in I. ricinus ticks feeding on dogs. Material and Methods: The study consisted in analyses of I. ricinus ticks collected in 2018-2020 from owned and stray dogs in the north-eastern part of Lubelskie province (eastern Poland). An AmpliSens PCR kit was used for qualitative detection and differentiation of tick-borne infections. Results: Infections of B. burgdorferi and A. phagocytophilum were detected in 10.9% and 12.9% of the examined ticks, respectively. One tick (0.7%) was co-infected by both pathogens. Infection with B. burgdorferi was significantly more highly prevalent in ticks collected from the owned dogs than from the strays (18.7% and 2.8%, respectively), whereas the prevalence of A. phagocytophilum was similar in both groups (12.0% and 13.9%, respectively). Conclusion: The co-infection observed in the study suggests the possibility of simultaneous infection by both pathogens from a single tick bi Autorzy: . Pesticide residues in the natural waters of agricultural land are monitored within the framework of promoting sustainable rural development to maintain the safety of human and animal health. Nr opisu: descriptive analysis, including a comparative analysis of areas with low and high levels of smart growth potential. The presented results show that rural areas in the abovementioned regions, in general, create disadvantageous conditions for enhancing innovativeness through business activity, and the surveyed agents are characterised by a low level of innovativeness. In the opinion of the surveyed entrepreneurs, on the impact of selected factors on enterprise innovativeness, the potential impact of the local environment is above average. The findings point to a need to develop the endogenous potential of rural areas from peripheral regions by increasing access to modern ITC infrastructure and the role of the institutional environment in the process of knowledge transfer to the local sector of companies, the development of local connections in the business sector and within the scope of cooperation of local authorities wi Autorzy: , . The research used methods of analysis and criticism of the literature, statistical analysis and a survey method using an interview questionnaire addressed to local government authorities. According to our research, especially at the stage of developing the strategy, actions were taken regarding local-community and local-authority participation and active communication between the two, but a lower level of community participation was found at the implementation stage. There was a statistically significant relationship between adopting the principle of participation and accountability in preparing and implementing the strategy and how suitable the strategy was assessed to be as a tool for development management. It seems reasonable to apply the principles of good governance more widely in planning local development, not only while developing the strategy, but also in its implementation.^aZbucki, Łukasz^cx^alocalThe research used methods of analysis and criticism of the literature, statistical analysis and a survey method using an interview questionnaire addressed to local government authorities. They may be exposed to ticks, rodents, and birds as well as excreta/secretions of wild animals or contaminated water and soil. Hence, this population is at risk of contracting infection with pathogens such as Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato (s.l.), Anaplasma phagocytophilum, Babesia spp., tick-borne encephalitis virus, Bartonella spp., Francisella tularensis, Echinococcus spp., or hantaviruses. The aim of the study was to assess the seroprevalence of zoonotic agents, viz. A. phagocytophilum, hantaviruses, and Echinococcus spp., with special regard to B. burgdorferi s.l., among hunters in Lubelskie Voivodeship (eastern Poland). Methods: Serum samples collected from 134 hunters from Lubelskie Voivodeship were analyzed with the use of immunological techniques (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, line immunoblot test, and indirect fluorescence assay) for the presence of antibodies against the agents. Results: Specific antibodies were detected in 66% of the tested individuals. Antibodies against B. burgdorferi s.l. (39%), A. phagocytophilum (30%), hantaviruses (9%), and Echinococcus spp. (8%) were detected individually or as mixed results. Interpretation & conclusion: The results confirm that there is a risk of exposure to different pathogens in the forested areas in eastern Poland and that hunters are highly vulnerable to infection with the examined zoonotic agents. A significant proportion of co-occurring antibodies against different pathogens was noticed. Thus, hunters have to take special care of their health status evaluation and mitigate the exposure risk by using adequate prophylaxis measures.Plewik, DorotaBorrelia burgdorferi s. l.Seroepidemiologiczne badania w kierunku wybranych zoonoz Oznaczenie wydania: KononNiemcewiczoriginal-article997710009997.8100972-9062003Serological surveillance of vector-borne and zoonotic diseases among hunters in eastern PolandJournal of Vector Borne Diseases20160972-90622016/2017Tokarska-Rodak, MałgorzataAnaplasma phagocytophilumKopia dostępna w Sekcji Bibliometrii.Zastosowanie immunofluorescencji w badaniu serologicznym surowic na obecność przeciwciał odpornościowych przeciwko HantawirusomFINAL_PUBLISHEDBackground & objectives: Many etiological agents of zoonoses are considered as significant biological hazard to people visiting forested areas frequently, for instance, hunters.
