Streszczenie: The child's health rests in the hands of his adult carers. There are many factors which constitue health such as: rational plan of daily routine, healthy diet, sleeping, going for walks, doing physical activities and hardening. In the week, a child spends most of its time in kindergarten or school. That is why, it is so signifiant that the teacher shows both correct attitude and willingness to learn about his or her own behaviour as well as his/her influence on his or her own health. The ways of strengthening the children's immunity depend mainly on teachers' knowledge about health hardening. Hardening can be defined as a system of treatments that constitue an integral part of physical education among children. Not only in kindergarten but also at home hardening is a powerful health remedy that reduces the incidence of cold diseases from 2 to 4 times. Hardening is not a cure for diseases, but a preventive treatment. A hardened person can easily bear not only heat and cold, but also violent changes in ambient temperature, which can lead to the weakening of the body's defenses. Hardening induces a general strengthening of the body. It also leads to the increase in the efficiency of the central nervous system, as well as to the normalization of metabolism and improvement of blood circulation. Hardening is a significant element of a healthy lifestyle among people of all ages. However, it is especially significant for children whose body has not yet developed the ability to react quickly and rapidly to violent environmental changes. Children overheat faster or undergo hypothermia. What is more, they are more sensitive to changes in air humidity, especially to its increase, or UV radiation. Children, who are hardened from childhood, are less likely to get sick and find it easier to adapt in kindergarten. In regard to the aforementioned reasons, research was undertaken in this area, implementing an innovative method of hardening through pro-health education and breathing exercises in two kindergartens in Poland as a pedagogical experiment. The aim of the research was to determine how daily breathing exercises "Strelnikowej" during pro-health education in kindergarten affected children's health (immunity). The research included 42 children aged 6 attending two kindergartens in Biała Podlaska, 22 of whom formed an experimental group and 20 children a control group. An introductory pro-health talk as well as health-hardening exercises were conducted with the use of "Strelnikowa" method in the experimental group for three months from October to December. At the same time, a pre-school documentation, which included information on the incidence of every child getting sick in the months of October, November and December, was analysed on the basis of the nursery attendance register. The results of the conducted research with the use of the pedagogical experiment confirmed that, after 3 months of pro-health education as well as hardening based on the

Streszczenie: At the beginning, the progress of civilization and the increase in prosperity undoubtedly favoured the enhancement of the general society health. However, there is no denying that over the past decades there has been observed sedentary (sitting) lifestyle associated with aforementioned factors which turned out advantageous for the development of the so-called civilization diseases. Such lifestyle applies not only to the elderly, but also to the representatives of younger generation who are spending more and more time in front of computers, tablets, smartphones or television sets. Effective health education conducted from an early age can contribute to the consolidation of appropriate habits of taking care of one's health for all their lives. The key task of every kindergarten teacher is to bring about a positive health attitude in their pupils. The aim of the research is to analyse the actions undertaken by pre-school teachers that increase the immunity in children. In accomplishing this goal, it was examined how significant role teachers play in this aspect, because it is the teacher who stays with the pupils for most of the day. In addition, teacher's tasks include caring about children's health by shaping appropriate pro-health attitudes. The article presents selected hardening methods used in kindergartens located on the territory of Poland and Latvia. The comparative research was conducted in 2018 in Biała Podlaska (Poland) and Daugavpils (Latvia). The research includes pre-school teachers of selected kindergartens. The method of diagnostic survey was applied, whereas the technique was a survey and the tool, thanks to which data was collected, was a questionnaire. It consisted of questions in the field of health education and hardening methods. The results of the comparative research have shown that more pre-school education teachers in Latvia than in Poland have greater educational influence, introducing more diverse health-oriented treatments and physical exercises in order to increase children's immunity to temperature changes and cold diseases. Immune system is the weapon for the common cold. On the other hand, teachers of pre-school education in Poland stress the fact that children's immunity can be effectively increased not only by frequent outdoor activities while going for a walk during different seasons but also by proper diet. Therefore, it is worth implementing new methods of pro-health education in Polish kindergartens which are based primarily on being physically active and hardening. According to all surveyed educators, it can be concluded that the lack of parents' attention, rare cuddling, lack of common fun and play activities performed with parents finally cause greater or lesser frustration, leading to deterioration of the child's health. The child's nervous system is closely related to the immune system. Therefore, the well-being of a child raises his immunological immunity through close relationships at home an
