Streszczenie: This article is aimed at presenting forecast results of the consolidation of selected higher education institutions in terms of evaluating their effectiveness. Design/Methodology/Approach: An analysis of forecast and simulation results in terms of a change in the effectiveness rating for selected higher vocational state schools was carried out in the three following variants. Variant 1: three higher education institutions with the highest effectiveness rating of all 29 analysed ones (model SE DEA CCR-I CRS) will merge with those with the lowest effectiveness rating, creating a total of 9 new entities. Variant 2: three higher education institutions with the lowest effectiveness rating of all 29 analysed ones (model SE DEA CCR-I CRS) will merge with one another, creating one new entity, and the three merging institutions will leave the analysed group. Variant 3: three higher education institutions with the lowest effectiveness rating of all 29 analysed ones (model SE DEA CCR-I CRS) will merge with three randomly selected academic higher education institutions (DMU W30, DMU W31, DMU W32), creating three new pairs, and the three merging institutions will leave the analysed group. Findings: In terms of mutual benefits, i.e. changes in both higher education institutions undergoing a merger, there may be situations when similar effects are obtained by one of the merging institutions when paired with another entity. Nevertheless, this does not mean that the reverse applies. We may formulate a thesis that the benefits arising from a merger are not symmetrical. Practical Implications: The conclusions drawn from the simulations prove that not every merger between higher education institutions is a priori beneficial. In order to achieve the expected result, i.e. improved effectiveness, the consolidation process must proceed in a well-thought-out manner; importantly, it should involve appropriately selected educational institutions. Originality/Value: The analyses conducted illustrate the potential of a new approach to the higher education system.

Streszczenie: Nauczyciel wychowania przedszkolnego, to nauczyciel uczący dzieci w wieku 3-6 lat. Materiał i metody: Badania przeprowadzono wśród 230 studentek z trzech ośrodków uniwersyteckich w Polsce, Słowacji i Czechach.

Streszczenie: The State Professional Schools of Higher Education constitute an important sector of higher education in Poland. They are the results of the transformation process of the last decade of the 20th century. Since 1999, 36 public professional schools have been organized. After consolidation, there are 33 state professional schools which concentrate on educational activity, however some at them conduct research and other academic activity. The main aim of the paper is an evaluation of the functioning of this type of schools in the context of local labour market on the case of Pope John Paul II State School of Higher Education in Biała Podlaska, which for several years has been the leading organization in higher education sector in Poland. Sources of materials for research were found in literature, official documents of the school and own diagnostic survey with the use of questionnaires directed to 15 teachers, 105 students and 21 business representatives, which were subsequently analysed. Research results proved that there are some discrepancies between demand and supply on the local labour market in the group of higher education sector. Comparing to the educational fields offered by the State School of Higher Education in Biała Podlaska, there is a shortage of workers in such professions as: IT specialists, physiotherapists, construction engineers while the excess of supply exists for foreign language teachers, sociologists, economists, tourism servants, agricultural engineers. In conclusion, a stronger links between professional schools, enterprises and local organisations are suggested. Implementation of practical profile of students requires some changes in curricula as well as in the system of cooperation between schools and regional labour markets.

Streszczenie: The completion of first and second cycle higher education significantly increases one's employment opportunities. It is primarily due to the education programmes implemented in the study course and the activities undertaken by students with regard to capital development. Accordingly, career capital might be understood as one's career assets, the sum of experience, knowledge, skills, relationships as well as material status obtained in the educational process. The developed career capital, in turn, is an indicator of one's employability, which is visible in two dimensions: the objective one (career development stages) and subjective (convictions about the possessed competencies and the corresponding satisfaction of one's development). The effectiveness of a prospective employee in the labour market is therefore conditioned by two variables, i.e. the level of investment in own development and its scope. The following article aims to analyse the proper preparation for the professional workforce in the final year students of the first and second cycles and demonstrate the measures taken by a higher education institution that may impact students' career capital acquisition in the subjective dimension. To achieve the objective, we conducted quantitative research in the group of 753 students in PSW in Biała Podlaska, which accounted for 98.8% of all the persons taking the final exam. To do the study, questionnaire no. 36, an assessment tool devised for The PSW Internal System for Ensuring the Quality of Education, consisting of close questions, was used. Participation in the research was voluntary, although a targeted selection was made. The study concerned the period from February 1, 2017, to September 30, 2017. Programme STATISTICA 10 was applied to analyse the variables, whereas the relationships between the variables were examined using the Mann-Whitney U test. In all investigated cases, the assumed significance level was p <0.05, and statistically significant findings were marked with an asterisk (*). The components of career capital were identified on the basis of variability in the mastery of social competences acquired while studying, study conditions, educational, social and cultural offer, self-assessment of learning outcomes as well as further education plans. The results of the conducted research are to indicate statistically significant relationships between providing the proper preparation for professional work by the university and the way the institution operates to ensure human capital development. The higher the level of social competences in students, the better they are prepared for the transition process. Providing higher academic standards of studying (quality of didactic classes, library resources, infrastructure) improves the readiness for work. The same is true of the development of educational offer in the field of language courses, lectures by interesting persons and study trips. Those who are well prepared for prof

Streszczenie: The present-day social trends, phenomena and experiences, i.e. technological expansion, widely assessable educational systems or the inevitability of lifelong learning imply that education remains a necessity and its role in the future is likely to increase even further. Despite various complaints about the deepening degree devaluation or lifetime employment coming under pressure due to changing markets, there seems to be no perceived shortfall in students' aspirations for acquiring degrees worldwide. Also in Poland higher educational institutions appear to do well conversely to a drastic decline in the numbers of the young people's generation. As recent estimations indicate, many young Poles have started their higher education or intend to enter universities, and their numbers are the highest in the OECD countries. Also, the Central Statistical Office in Poland (GUS) reports confirm that the percentage of those with higher education degrees has reached its new peak in the present decade. The dissemination of higher education is undoubtedly a positive phenomenon as it is directly linked to improving one's social position. As numerous analyses show, education is still associated with better well-being, including life expectancy, better standards of living or professional prospects. Also, young peoples' plans and choices may testify to the attractiveness of entering colleges and universities. The view is shared by all socio-demographic groups in Poland as the desire to develop their competencies seem to be evenly spaced in the Polish society. Likewise, groups from lower socioeconomic status backgrounds inhibiting small towns or rural areas share the global aspirations concerning education and the numbers of the present, and prospective students remain high. The following article attempts to analyse the expectations of one such group entering the first and second cycle courses in PSW in Biala Podlaska, Poland, concerning possibilities of transition into the labour market or acquiring practical skills. It analyses the economic income in their households as well as other socioeconomic aspects such as the number of persons in the family, including those employed. The study sample involved 574 first-year entrees, out of all 975 enrolled students as of October 2017. Its findings are based on questionnaire no. 33, which is part of The PSW Internal System for Ensuring the Quality of Education assessment tools. To do the computation, programme Statistica 10 was applied, whereas to determine statistically significant relationships between the variables we used the Chi-square test. The study attempts to determine how different social competencies acquired while studying impact on students' personal development. Further, it assesses whether the diversification of the university's educational offer meets the expectations of the first-year students. As a result of the conducted analyses, it has been found that there is a statistical dependence between

Streszczenie: Learning a foreign language is currently the leading element of the development at every level of education. Having a foreign language skills helps to communicate in a multicultural environment and favors mobility processes. The internationalization of the higher education process takes place in most countries. The purpose of the article is to present results from the research based on which a linear model of foreign language learning cost was built. The model allows to fulfill the expectations in terms of the preferences of the cost of learning a foreign language and the number of hours of classes per week, and it gives the university the ability to determine the economics of the project, without having to analyze separate stakeholders of the academic community.

Streszczenie: The higher education insitutions are taking an action in providing the educational safety for students. In the article the assessment of curriculum and conditions of studying were presented by undergraduates and postgraduates. In the analyses the issue of influence of membership in the specific group of courses at the faculty was surveyed. Plans for future of graduates are completely different than those enetering the studies. The willingnes to work, moving abroad of starting up a business is decreasing with the passage of time and the intention to continue the education is rising. The membership in the faculty affects the level of satisfaction from acheived education, level of competences and the opinion on the conditions of studying.
