Nr opisu: study is to demonstrate the effectiveness of the 1x1 play in offensive and defensive actions among women's victorious and defeated teams in the 2007 Women's World Cup. Method: The research material involved an analysis of 15 matches that were played during the tournament. To acquire the necessary data, the previously recorded matches on DVDs from the television broadcast were analysed. In order to observe differences in victorious and defeated teams 2448 one-on-one duels were analysed. Results: The studies have shown a greater effectiveness in the winning teams as far as the 1x1 play is concerned, as they performed better in attack (56.1%), when compared the defeated teams with their 41.0%. The winning teams also showed better performance in 1x1 defence - 59%, whereas for the defeated ones it amounted to 43.7%. It should be noted that the victorious teams have achieved higher effectiveness rates of 1x1 play in each of the three areas of the pitch: defensive, middle, offensive. The analysis of the 1x1 head-to-head play in attack also showed higher scores in the winning teams - 56.9%, than the defeated - 33.1%. However, there were no differences in the 1x1 head-to-head play in defence. Conclusions: The studies have shown that the ability to play 1x1 with foot and head constitutes the core of the final result of the match.^agame analysis^aone-on-one game^aHealth-Academy Journal
