The research material consisted of tubers of eight edible potato cultivars collected from a field experiment conducted in 2021 and 2022 at the Agricultural Experimental Station in Zawady of Siedlce University of Natural Sciences and Humanities (52o03'N; 22o33'E). The following cultivars were grown: two cultivars with red flesh - Rotte Emma and Herbie 26, five cultivars with purple flesh - Blaue Annelise, Provita, Salad Blue, Vitelotte and Bora Valley, and one traditional cultivar, light yellow fleshed - Eurostar. The cultivar features of the potato tubers significantly modified the content of vitamin C and they determined cooking properties of the potato. The cultivars with red and purple flesh accumulated more vitamin C than the traditional cultivar. The cultivar Rote Emma and Salad Blue had the best tastiness, while the cultivar Herbie 26 and Bora Valley proved to be the least tasty. The red and purple-fleshed cultivars were dominated by the salad cooking type A and they differed significantly than the traditional cultivar Eurostar. Potato tubers with colored flesh are a valuable and attractive offer to the consumer.

A three-year field research study was conducted at the Agricultural Experimental Station Zawady (52°03' N; 22°33' E). The field experiment was set up in a split-plot design with three replicates. The first factor was the two edible potato cultivars, and the second was five methods of mechanical and chemical treatments with biostimulants: (1) control object-mechanical weeding, (2) the herbicide Avatar 293 ZC (clomazone + metribuzin), (3) the herbicide Avatar 293 ZC and the biostimulant PlonoStart, (4) the herbicide Avatar 293 ZC and the biostimulant Aminoplant, (5) the herbicide Avatar 293 ZC and the biostimulant Agro-Sorb Folium. Before emergence, the control object was double ridging and single ridging with harrowing and double ridging after emergence. On other objects (2-5) before emergence, two ridgings were applied. The assessment of weed infestation was performed using the quantitative weight method on two dates: about 2 weeks after the application of the herbicide and biostimulants and before the potato tubers harvest. The herbicide and the herbicide with biostimulants applied to the potato crop showed a positive influence in reducing the number and fresh weight of weeds compared to mechanical-only treatments. The highest effectiveness, calculated on the basis of the number and fresh mass of weeds, was found on the fifth object. It was, on average, 70.5 and 71.6% for cultivars, respectively. Research into the use of biostimulants in potato cultivation will continue due to the pro-environmental nature of biostimulants and the importance of this crop. It is certain that the methodology of future field experiments will meet the challenges of sustainable development.

The experimental material consisted of potato tubers harvested in a field experiment set up in a split-plot arrangement with three replicates. The first experimental factor consisted of two table potato cultivars: Malaga and Oberon, and the second factor included five methods of weed control using the herbicide Avatar 293 ZC (the herbicide contained clomazone and metribuzin) and biostimulants: 1) control - without the herbicide or biostimulants, 2) the herbicide clomazone + metribuzin (Avatar 293 ZC), 3) the herbicide clomazone + metribuzin (Avatar 293 ZC) and the biostimulant PlonoStart, 4) the herbicide clomazone + metribuzin (Avatar 293 ZC) and the biostimulant Aminoplant, 5) the herbicide clomazone + metribuzin (Avatar 293 ZC) and the biostimulant Agro-Sorb Folium. Vitamin C content and total protein content were determined in potato tubers. The vitamin C content in fresh tubers was determined using the Tilman's method modified by Pijanowski. The total protein content was calculated from the nitrogen content assayed with the Kjeldahl method and multiplied by 6.25. An application of either the herbicide alone or combined with a biostimulant contributed to a significant increase in both the vitamin C content and total protein content compared with control tubers. The cultivar Oberon revealed a higher potential ability to accumulate chemical components compared with cv. Malaga.

Celem przeprowadzonych badań było określenie wpływu rodzaju stosowanych biostymulatorów (Kelpak SLŽ, TitanitŽ, GreenOkŽ, BrunatneBio ZłotoŽ) na zawartość białka ogólnego i właściwego w bulwach trzech odmian ziemniaka jadalnego (Honorata, Jelly, Tajfun). Rośliny ziemniaka trzykrotnie traktowano biostymulatorami (początek kwitnienia, w pełni kwitnienia i po kwitnieniu) wariantem kontrolnym były rośliny ziemniaka bez stosowania biostymulatorów opryskiwane wodą destylowaną. Przed przystąpieniem do zbioru doświadczenia ze wszystkich poletek wykopano losowo bulwy z 10 roślin ziemniaka (z wyłączeniem roślin brzeżnych). Zbioru dokonywano w okresie dojrzałości technologicznej bulw, w pierwszej dekadzie września. Zawartość białka ogólnego oznaczano metodą Kjeldahla, a białko właściwe oddzielono od związków niebiałkowych poprzez strącenie kwasem trójchlorooctowym i oznaczano metodą Bernsteina (AOAC 2006). Doświadczenie założono metodą losowanych podbloków (split-plot). Cechy genetyczne badanych odmian wpływały na zawartość białka surowego i właściwego. Najwięcej białka ogólnego gromadziły bulwy odmiany Tajfun, a białka właściwego odmiany Jelly. Czynnikiem kształtującym zawartość białka ogólnego i właściwego w bulwach ziemniaka okazały się także warunki atmosferyczne w latach badań. Akumulacji białka sprzyjał suchy okres od lipca do września. Duża ilość opadów -325,4 mm i najniższa średnia temperatura powietrza -14,6°C w 2017 roku przyczyniła się do zmniejszenia zawartości białka ogólnego i właściwego w bulwach ziemniaka. Bulwy roślin traktowanych preparatem BrunatneBio ZłotoŽ charakteryzowały się największą zawartością białka ogólnego i właściwego w porównaniu do roślin z wariantu kontrolnego. Streszczenie: The results of the research were based on a field experiment conducted in 2015-2017 on an individual farm in Międzyrzec Podlaski in Poland. The aim of the study was to determine the effect of the type of biostimulants used (Kelpak SLŽ, TitanitŽ, GreenOkŽ, BrunatneBio ZłotoŽ) on the total and true protein content in tubers of three edible potato varieties (Honorata, Jelly, Tajfun). Potato plants were treated three times with biostimulators (beginning of flowering, full flowering and after flowering), the control variant was potato plants without the use of biostimulators, sprayed with distilled water. Prior to the experimental harvest from all plots, tubers from 10 potato plants (excluding marginal plants) were randomly dug. The harvest was made during the technological maturity of tubers, in the first decade of September. The total protein content was determined by the Kjeldahl method, and the specific protein was separated from the non-protein compounds by precipitation with trichloroacetic acid and determined by the Bernstein method (AOAC 2006). The experiment was based on a random-split sub-plot. Genetic traits of studied varieties affected the content of crude and proper protein. The highest levels of total protein were accumulated in tubers of the Tajfun variety, and the highest content of true proteins was noted for the Jelly variety. The weather conditions in the years of the study were another factor shaping the content of total and true protein content in potato tubers. Accumulation of protein was favoured by the dry period from July to September. A large amount of precipitation - 325.4 mm - and the lowest average air temperature - 14.6°C in 2017 contributed to the reduction of total protein content in potato tubers. Tubers of plants treated with the preparation BrunatneBio Gold were characterised by the highest content of total and true protein in comparison to plants from the control variant. The aim of the study was an assessment of the effect of using various sowing methods and types of applied biostimulators on pre-dormancy plant habit as well as on overwintering of three types of winter rape cultivars. Material and methods. A field experiment was carried out in a split-split-plot design in three replications. The studied factors included: I - three cultivars of winter rape: Monolit (population cultivar), PR 44D06 (restored hybrid cultivar with a semi-dwarf type of growth), PT 205 (restored hybrid cultivar with a conventional type of growth); II - two sowing methods: row spacing of 22.5 cm (row sowing - sowing density of 60 seeds per 1 m2 ), row spacing of 45.0 cm (single seed sowing - sowing density of 40 seeds per 1 m2 ); III - three types of applied biostimulators: control variant (without an application of biostimulators), TytanitŽ biostimulator, AsahiŽSL biostimulator, SilvitŽ biostimulator. Results. Biostimulators applied in the experiment affected an increase in the number of leaves per rosette, root collar diameter, height of elevation of shoot apex as well as taproot length compared with the control plot. The highest values of morphological traits of plants determined in autumn before inhibition of growth as well as plants most complete winter survival were obtained under conditions of spraying with Asahi SL biostimulator, applied at the stage BBCH 13-15. The population cultivar overwintered better in comparison to the two heterotic cultivars, produced rosettes with a higher number of leaves (on average 8.4 leaves), a thicker root collar (on average 7.9 mm), as well as a longer taproot (on average 17.3 cm).The smallest plant losses occurred in cultivar Monolit after winter dormancy. Sowing method did not affect this trait of plant habit. Conclusion. Asahi SL biostimulator significantly affected an increase in all morphological traits of the leaf rosette determined in autumn before inhibition of growth, when compared with the control variant. The restored hybrid morphotypes: PR 44D06 and PT 205, compared with the population cultivar Monolit, were characterized by a poorer autumn development of the leaf rosette. Diversified climatic conditions in the autumn-summer periods of vegetation and in the winter dormancy in the years of the research affected plant habit. Research purpose was to assess the impact of herbicides and their mixtures with bio-stimulants on the ability to reduce infestation in the edible potato cultivation and to determine their phytotoxic effect on the crop. The experiment has studied the influence of two factors: I factor - three moderately early varieties of edible potato: Bartek, Gawin, Honorata. II factor - five variants of using herbicides and bio-stimulants: 1. the control objecttreatment - mechanical weed control, 2. herbicide Harrier 295 ZC in dose 2.0 dm3 ha-1, 3. herbicide Harrier 295 ZC in dose 2.0 dm3 ha-1; then on the east two times biostimulants Kelpak SL in dose 2.0 dm3 ha-1, 4. herbicide Sencor 70 WG in dose 1.0 kgha-1, 5. herbicide Sencor 70 WG + then on the east two times biostimulants Asahi SL in dose 1.0 dm3 ha-1. The herbicides and biostimulants have impacted the reduction of a fresh mass of weeds compared to the control treatment. Significant effect of the studied factors on the phytotoxic damage to potato plants was stated. In addition, the herbicides and growth biostimulants used in the experiment contributed to the overall yield of potato tubers from 13.6 to 33.2% the controltreatment. W doświadczeniu badano wpływ dwóch czynników: I czynnik - trzy średnio wczesne odmiany ziemniaka jadalnego: Bartek, Gawin, Honorata. II czynnik - pięć sposobów stosowania herbicydów i biostymulatorów: 1. obiekt kontrolny: pielęgnacja mechaniczna 2. herbicyd Harrier 295 ZC w dawce 2,0 dm3 ha-1, 3. herbicyd Harrier 295 ZC w dawce 2,0 dm3 ha-1 a następnie po wschodach roślin dwukrotnie bioregulator Kelpak SL w dawce 2,0 dm3 ha-1, 4. herbicyd Sencor 70 WG w dawce 1,0 kgha-1, 5. herbicyd Sencor 70 WG a następnie po wschodach roślin dwukrotnie biostymulator Asahi SL w dawce 1,0 dm3 ha-1.

Streszczenie: A field experiment was carried out in 2008-2010 at the Zawady Experimental Station, Chair of Plant Cultivation, University of Natural Sciences and Humanities in Siedlce. The experiment was set up in the split-plot design as a two-factorial three-replication trial. The factors examined were as follows: factor I - potato cultivars Cekin, Satina, Tajfun, factor II - herbicides (Command 480 EC, Command 480 EC and Afalon Dyspersyjny 450 SC, Stomp 400 SC, Stomp 400 SC and Afalon Dyspersyjny 450 SC), and control treatment - mechanical weeding. It was demonstrated that the application of mechanical-chemical treatments including herbicides and their mixtures contributed to a limiting effect on weed infestation in potato crop. Statistical analysis showed that yield of potato tubers strongly depended on the cultivar, weed control method applied, and the weather conditions in the vegetation periods. For agricultural application, mechanical and chemical weed control is recommended with a double herbicide treatment (before and after emergence) and mechanical and chemical weed control with a mixture of herbicides, before potato emergence.
