The incidence of pulmonary tuberculosis is dependent on many factors, not just health but also demographics. The primary objective of the study was to identify and evaluate selected risk factors for active tuberculosis in patients treated in the former specialist clinic in the eastern part of Lublin Province and to compare them with the ones researched by other authors. Material and methods. The work was retrospective as it concerns the analysis of the data drawn from the records of 100 patients with active tuberculosis. The information on the examined patients included the following parameters: sex, age, place of residence and marital status. Results. The majority of the studied population were male (69.0%), among whom the highest proportion concerned the fourth age group, i.e. 51-60 years old (mean 36.3%). As for sex and place of residence of the patients, the proportion of the infected men living in the country was twice as high (68.7%) when compared to women (31.3%). However, there were no differences with regard to the subpopulation percentage of women (67.8%) and men (66.7%). In turn, considering the sex and marital status of the examined persons, we found that the highest proportion of men were bachelors - 39.1%, while the percentage of married persons was similar among men (56, 5%) and women (58.1%). Conclusions. The analysis of the data shows that in the studied area pulmonary tuberculosis is most common among married men aged 51-60 years living in the country. Materiał i metody.

Lifestyle is one of the key factors that determines the proper development of human body, its systems and functions. An appropriate level of physical activity and BMI are thus integral components of a healthy lifestyle. Material and methods. The study involved 333 female students of Ternopil State Medical University and 409 schoolgirls of Ternopil, western Ukraine. The International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ-L) was used as a research method. BMI and physical activity self-assessment rates were also considered. Results. The surveyed female students of Ternopil State Medical University and schoolgirls of Ternopil (western Ukraine) demonstrate a high level of total physical activity. Most of the surveyed female students (71.1%) and pupils (59.4%) had normal body weight. The schoolgirls' self-assessment of physical fitness was lower and more adequate when compared to that of female students. Besides, both students and pupils who indicated that they had no free time spent it in a more reasonable way than those who considered that they had enough of it or not enough. Conclusions. The female students of medical university and female pupils of Ternopil are fully aware that physical activity is significant for their lives and that it constitutes a key factor to a healthy lifestyle. Materiał i metody. Wyniki. Badane studentki z Państwowego Uniwersytetu Medycznego w Tarnopolu i uczennice z Tarnopola (zachodnia Ukraina) wykazują wysoki poziom aktywności fizycznej. Wnioski.

Even so, more and more women decide to become competitive athletes. Since the theory of sport requires comprehensive explanations and the practice of sport needs clear guidelines, interdisciplinary studies into the nature of sport, including its psychological aspects, are necessary. Analysing the psychological profile of female soccer players, particularly those who are about to become professional athletes, can provide many interesting insights into the specific character of female youth sport and show where improvements can be made in athletic training programmes (especially in mental training). It is therefore important to study psychological gender that determines social behaviours and to analyse female athletes' emotional intelligence. Emotional intelligence is defined as a set of emotional competencies that determine the effectiveness of human behaviours. Psychological gender and emotional intelligence have a significant effect on human adaptability and the efficiency of psychosocial functioning. This research was undertaken with the dual purpose of identifying the psychological gender and emotional intelligence of female soccer players. It involved 54 secondary-school girls, some of whom attended a sports class and others played on the Polish national team. The following tools were used to carry out the research: the Gender Assessment Inventory (IPP [This and the other acronyms derive from the Polish language]-developed by Kuczyńska) and the Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire (INTE; created by Jaworowska and Matczak). As shown by the analysis of the results, most female soccer players in the study were androgynous and the level of their emotional intelligence was significantly higher than in other participants. This also seems to point to their significantly greater adaptability. At the same time, the level of emotional intelligence in many players was average or low, which seems insufficient and calls for adequate intervention measures to be taken.
