Badaniem objęto 354 dzieci. Do diagnozy wykorzystano nowoczesne technologie, tj. okulograf stacjonarny Eye Tracker Glasses rejestrujący dane z częstotliwością pomiarów 250 Hz. W celu wykazania różnic pomiędzy poprawnością wykonania zadań, a przedszkolem do którego uczęszcza badane dziecko zastosowano test Chi-kwadrat Pearsona. Do oceny różnic w czasie wykonania zadania wykorzystano jednoczynnikową analizę wariancji. We wszystkich analizowanych przypadkach przyjęto poziom istotności p=0.05. Wyniki badanej grupy przedszkolaków pokazały różnice w poziomie wiedzy i umiejętności z geometrii. Streszczenie: The article presents the results of research aimed at diagnosing flat geometric figures by children aged 5-7 who attended selected kindergartens in the Biała Podlaska poviat. 354 children were included in the research. Modern technologies were used for diagnosis, such as a stationary Eye Tracker Glasses, which records data with a measurement frequency of 250 Hz. This modern tool has a special measurement system that tracks and records the image, in what order and at what pace the examined person looks. The Pearson Chi-square test was used to demonstrate the differences between the correctness of the tasks performed and the kindergarten attended by the examined child. One-way analysis of variance was used to assess the differences in the performance of the task. In all analysed cases, the level of significance was p = 0.05. The results of the studied group of pre-schoolers showed differences in the level of knowledge and skills in geometry. An important factor influencing this level is the age at which preschool education begins and its duration.

Nothing motivates a child to learn physics or chemistry more than experimentation. Supervised by their teachers, using safe reagents, chemical glass, and other equipment required to conduct experiments, "Little Scientists" discover the laws of physics and chemistry. Experimenting favors a search for answers to the most basic questions; it helps children see the magic of science and discover the secrets of the world around them. Contrary to the common opinion, holding that physical or chemical experiments may be introduced at the beginning of primary school at the earliest, preschool-age children are already prepared for such activities. The article presents a chemical experiment concerning sugar detection conducted by 6-year-olds. Research was performed to determine whether making chemical experiments has an impact on the level of children's knowledge about sugars. The study included 20 children who carried out chemical experiments in four parallel groups. The level of knowledge was tested twice: first prior to the experiment and then following the experiment. The analysis of the data obtained demonstrated that after the experiment the level of children's knowledge about sugars increased significantly, as evidenced by the t-Student Test outcomes.

Streszczenie: The child's health rests in the hands of his adult carers. There are many factors which constitue health such as: rational plan of daily routine, healthy diet, sleeping, going for walks, doing physical activities and hardening. In the week, a child spends most of its time in kindergarten or school. That is why, it is so signifiant that the teacher shows both correct attitude and willingness to learn about his or her own behaviour as well as his/her influence on his or her own health. The ways of strengthening the children's immunity depend mainly on teachers' knowledge about health hardening. Hardening can be defined as a system of treatments that constitue an integral part of physical education among children. Not only in kindergarten but also at home hardening is a powerful health remedy that reduces the incidence of cold diseases from 2 to 4 times. Hardening is not a cure for diseases, but a preventive treatment. A hardened person can easily bear not only heat and cold, but also violent changes in ambient temperature, which can lead to the weakening of the body's defenses. Hardening induces a general strengthening of the body. It also leads to the increase in the efficiency of the central nervous system, as well as to the normalization of metabolism and improvement of blood circulation. Hardening is a significant element of a healthy lifestyle among people of all ages. However, it is especially significant for children whose body has not yet developed the ability to react quickly and rapidly to violent environmental changes. Children overheat faster or undergo hypothermia. What is more, they are more sensitive to changes in air humidity, especially to its increase, or UV radiation. Children, who are hardened from childhood, are less likely to get sick and find it easier to adapt in kindergarten. In regard to the aforementioned reasons, research was undertaken in this area, implementing an innovative method of hardening through pro-health education and breathing exercises in two kindergartens in Poland as a pedagogical experiment. The aim of the research was to determine how daily breathing exercises "Strelnikowej" during pro-health education in kindergarten affected children's health (immunity). The research included 42 children aged 6 attending two kindergartens in Biała Podlaska, 22 of whom formed an experimental group and 20 children a control group. An introductory pro-health talk as well as health-hardening exercises were conducted with the use of "Strelnikowa" method in the experimental group for three months from October to December. At the same time, a pre-school documentation, which included information on the incidence of every child getting sick in the months of October, November and December, was analysed on the basis of the nursery attendance register. The results of the conducted research with the use of the pedagogical experiment confirmed that, after 3 months of pro-health education as well as hardening based on the

Streszczenie: Among many factors that influence the quality and effectiveness of the work of a school, kindergarten or another educational institution, a teacher and his/her professional competences are very important. At the time when the Polish educational system is undergoing another reform, both in terms of structure and curriculum, the preparation of teachers to implement it, especially in terms of professional competences, seems to be of key significance. The quality of teachers' work, their substantial preparation, is not only crucial for the proper implementation of reforms - which seems to be particularly important for the authors of the reforms - but for the main subject of educational actions, i. e. the child and its general development. Effective teaching in the kindergarten and at the first level of education shall make it possible for the students to achieve success at the further stages of education. That is why, it seems right to take up partial research among kindergarten and early education teachers in order to diagnose, on the basis of their self-assessment, professional competences, as well as the needs and expectations in terms of professional improvement. That main objective was fulfilled due to the research carried out among the teachers working in kindergartens and classes I-III of primary schools from the Biała Podlaska region and city, in the Lublin voivodeship. The method of a diagnostic survey with the use of a questionnaire was applied in the research. The research results provided interesting information on the teachers' self-assessment of their own competences on a three-grade scale. It is worth mentioning that most teachers situate their competences at the second, i. e. medium level. Also, the research made it possible to collect and describe the scale of the teachers' needs and expectations in terms of professional improvement, which influences both their own development and the effective work with children.

Streszczenie: At the beginning, the progress of civilization and the increase in prosperity undoubtedly favoured the enhancement of the general society health. However, there is no denying that over the past decades there has been observed sedentary (sitting) lifestyle associated with aforementioned factors which turned out advantageous for the development of the so-called civilization diseases. Such lifestyle applies not only to the elderly, but also to the representatives of younger generation who are spending more and more time in front of computers, tablets, smartphones or television sets. Effective health education conducted from an early age can contribute to the consolidation of appropriate habits of taking care of one's health for all their lives. The key task of every kindergarten teacher is to bring about a positive health attitude in their pupils. The aim of the research is to analyse the actions undertaken by pre-school teachers that increase the immunity in children. In accomplishing this goal, it was examined how significant role teachers play in this aspect, because it is the teacher who stays with the pupils for most of the day. In addition, teacher's tasks include caring about children's health by shaping appropriate pro-health attitudes. The article presents selected hardening methods used in kindergartens located on the territory of Poland and Latvia. The comparative research was conducted in 2018 in Biała Podlaska (Poland) and Daugavpils (Latvia). The research includes pre-school teachers of selected kindergartens. The method of diagnostic survey was applied, whereas the technique was a survey and the tool, thanks to which data was collected, was a questionnaire. It consisted of questions in the field of health education and hardening methods. The results of the comparative research have shown that more pre-school education teachers in Latvia than in Poland have greater educational influence, introducing more diverse health-oriented treatments and physical exercises in order to increase children's immunity to temperature changes and cold diseases. Immune system is the weapon for the common cold. On the other hand, teachers of pre-school education in Poland stress the fact that children's immunity can be effectively increased not only by frequent outdoor activities while going for a walk during different seasons but also by proper diet. Therefore, it is worth implementing new methods of pro-health education in Polish kindergartens which are based primarily on being physically active and hardening. According to all surveyed educators, it can be concluded that the lack of parents' attention, rare cuddling, lack of common fun and play activities performed with parents finally cause greater or lesser frustration, leading to deterioration of the child's health. The child's nervous system is closely related to the immune system. Therefore, the well-being of a child raises his immunological immunity through close relationships at home an

DOI: 10.31261/CHOWANNA.2019.52.14 Streszczenie: The changes related to the political transformation which took place in our country also affected education and, consequently, preschool education. The state delegated the responsibility for the administration of public schools, kindergartens and other educational institutions to local authorities, which involved a certain limitation in terms of the availability of kindergartens in some regions. A decrease in the number of children attending such institutions was particularly observed in rural communes. Poland's accession to the European Union was a crucial factor stimulating dissemination and availability of preschool education. Local governments and other entities running kindergartens took advantage of the opportunity created by the European Social Fund. Nowadays, a wide variety of preschool education forms and institutions providing such education as well as educational offers can be observed. Nevertheless, there are still some areas which require support, and social debate on the effectiveness of preschool education is also needed. The way preschool establishments have come and the changes they have undergone over the past 25 years are particularly noteworthy. Starting from the period of neglect of infrastructure and the closure of preschool institutions, we have now entered the stage of clear understanding of the crucial role played by preschool education in further psychophysical development of a child and, at the same time, awareness of the need to invest both in physical and human capital of this important area of national education.

Streszczenie: Preschool education is considered to be a key factor in preparing children for the commencement of school education. However, the recognition of the crucial role of this kind of education has been accompanied by discussions on how to organize preschool education so that, on the one hand, it reflects current trends in education and upbringing and, on the other hand, helps children to acquire a compendium of basic skills necessary for future school education. Apart from scientific discussions on the role of preschool education, the evaluation and parents' expectations with regard to this first stage of education are of equal importance. Identifying parents' opinion on how preschools fulfill their fundamental responsibility for preparing children to achieve school readiness for reading and writing led to the performance of a survey among parents of preschool children. The research was conducted among parents of children from selected preschools in the town and municipality of Biała Podlaska, Lublin province. The research method of a diagnostic survey, with the use of a questionnaire, was employed. The results made it possible to learn the opinion of the surveyed group of parents with respect to the objective pursued. The research confirmed that, on the one hand, parents are positive about the work of preschool and didactic activities of teachers who, while implementing the Core curriculum for preschool education, take due account of all required skills. The parents, at the same time, expect preschools to lay even greater emphasis on teaching reading and writing to children. Those skills are considered by parents to be especially important in further school education. The research results also reveal that almost all parents work with their children at home on improving the skills.

Therefore, it is important that the child has mastered these skills to the best extent. Unfortunately, not all children can meet the requirements in the field of learning to read and write. Problems of varying intensity and range appear, they are caused by various disorders of the perceptual-motor functions. Children who may have problems with reading and writing in the future can already be seen in the kindergarten. Therefore, the aim of the study was to diagnose the risk of dyslexia and dysgraphia among children aged 5-6. The study included 300 children from kindergartens in Biała Podlaska, Poland. The results of the study showed that children at risk for dyslexia and dysgraphia are present in the study group. The most frequent manifestations of these disorders were in the field of fine motor skills, gross motor skills, language functions, visual functions and attention. They were caused by various factors related to the functioning of the nervous system that affect its development. Among the children diagnosed with these disorders, therapeutic measures have been taken to help reduce developmental delays and make it easier for them to learn in primary school.

For nothing motivates a child to learn physics or chemistry more than experiment making. "Little Scientists" discover the laws of physics and chemistry supervised by their teachers, using safe reagents, chemical glass, and other equipment required to conduct experiments. Experimenting favours the search for answers to the most basic questions, it helps children see the magic of science and discover the secrets of the world around. Contrary to the common opinion holding that physical or chemical experiments may be introduced at the beginning of primary school at the earliest, preschool-age children are already prepared for such activities. The article presents a chemical experiment concerning sugar detection conducted by 6-year-olds. Research was performed to determine whether making chemical experiments has an impact on the level of children's knowledge about sugars. The study included 20 children who carried out chemical experiments in four parallel groups. The level of knowledge was tested twice: first - prior to the experiment, and next - following the experiment. The analysis of obtained data demonstrated that after the experiment the level of children's knowledge about sugars increased significantly, as evidenced by the t-Student Test outcomes.

Specialists in the field of education pay attention to the importance of movement in this process. The development of the child's brain, in particular, in the preschool period is susceptible to a variety of kinetic stimuli. With regard to writing instruction, attention is focused on the need to develop manual skills and visual-motor coordination, the acquisition of which will ensure the child's achievement of school readiness. Children who may have future problems with reading and writing can already be diagnosed in kindergarten. Therefore, the aim of the research was to identify the level of fine motor skills development of 5-year-old children (107 preschoolers) attending randomly selected kindergartens in Biała Podlaska district. The two-stage research was performed using tests. During the first stage, fine motor skills which cause most problems to children were identified. In turn, the second stage of research, which was conducted 6 months after the first one, revealed an increase in the participants' skills and diagnosed children who needed support in the form of specialist therapeutic classes. The research tests were complemented by individual interviews conducted with teachers working directly with children taking part in the research. The interview results revealed the scope of difficulties with developing manual skills in the tested group of children and the need to engage parents in the education process of their offspring.

http://oaji.net/articles/2017/457-1519988124.pdf Streszczenie: Taking into account the psychophysical development of a young person, a child in particular, attention should be paid to forming certain habits related to physical activity, health, nutrition, hygiene, and aesthetics during the preschool period as such habits will be of utmost importance in his/ her adult life. Physical activity of children affects various health parameters both today and in the future. Specialists draw attention to the correlation between physical activity and the development of the musculoskeletal system, body posture, the nervous, respiratory and vegetative systems. The lack of physical activity may result in cardiovascular diseases or obesity. These are just some of the reasons for which people need physical activity in their lives. Bearing in mind the lack of research on this issue, it was decided to conduct research on the physical activity of children (210 students) aged 4-6 attending selected kindergartens located in the town of Biała Podlaska, Poland. The level of physical activity of children was measured with the use of special devices, so called actigraph units (accelerometers in Polish). Due to a small size of this wrist-watch-like device, movements of children or their participation in games and different forms of activities in kindergarten were not hampered. On the basis of the collected data, statistical analysis was performed. Non-parametric statistical tests were used in order to identify the relationship between variables of the physical activity level and sex, age and weight of a child. Data analysis revealed statistically significant differences between the level of physical activity and some personal characteristics. The research conclusions, which will be helpful in providing effective education in the field of physical activity, were made available to kindergartens.

https://library.iated.org/view/NAZARUK2018SCO DOI: 10.21125/inted.2018.0603 Streszczenie: In Poland, kindergarten is an educational institution which implements childcare and educational activities for children from age 3 to the commencement of schooling. Preschool education can be characterized by a holistic approach to child development and includes not only moral, religious, mental and physical aspects of instruction, but also health education which is nowadays referred to as preschool health education. This type of instruction focuses not only on the implementation of the issues related to physical condition but also on social and mental health. Furthermore, it strives to shape health-oriented attitudes which can have lifelong consequences. It is an undeniable fact that health is one of the most essential values in human life. It is a resource which enables individuals to thrive, reach their full potential and take on new exciting challenges and activities. However, in order to live a healthy life and appreciate its importance, health education should be introduced as early as possible. Education specialists claim that preschool age is an ideal time for teaching children about health and for establishing health-oriented attitudes and behavior. Taking into consideration the significance of encouraging and shaping pro-health attitudes among preschool children, attention should be paid to the importance of teachers' work in this field. Therefore, a diagnostic survey was performed in the number of selected kindergartens situated in Biała Podlaska District, Lublin province, in order to identify pro-health education activities provided by kindergartens. Based on the research results, conclusions were drawn and, consequently, made available to the institutions participating in the research. The scope of health education activities implemented by kindergartens is very broad. These institutions often go beyond the existing educational curricula and standard methods of teaching. Such activities will certainly contribute to the process of encouraging and shaping pro-health attitudes and a healthy lifestyle among preschoolers.

That is why, it is significant that these skills are mastered by the child to the highest degree. Currently, kindergartens in Poland are expected to fulfil the key tasks which include preparing children to learn how to write and read. Namely, their main aim is to stimulate the child's interest especially in the aspect of proper recognition of letters. In regard to learning how to write and read, specialists draw attention to the need to shape motor skills, both gross and fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination and balance. According to them, the mastery of these skills will ensure the child's readiness to read and write acquired in kindergarten, and then full acquisition of these skills in primary school. Problems which are connected with learning how to read and write, which some children might have in the future, can be diagnosed very early. Kindergarten is a professionally prepared institution providing early childhood education and care. Therefore, it is justified and necessary to carry out tests diagnosing the development of motor skills in pre-school children because the results of this type of research will be helpful both for children's parents and teachers in conducting didactic work with children, and in some cases in early pedagogical therapy both in kindergarten and in specialized pedagogical support centres. The aim of the research was to diagnose the level of motor development of 120 children at the age of 6 attending randomly chosen kindergartens in Poland in Biała Podlaska district, to which recruitment was conducted on the principles of universal accessibility. In the study, a standardized test prepared by N. I. Ozierecki and adapted to the Polish needs by Aleksander Barański was used to diagnose motor skills in children. Six exercises in this test illustrate the various symptoms of neuromuscular coordination. If these exercises are applied, the basic mechanism of motor skills and physical fitness of a person participating in the research can be evaluated. The research was conducted in two stages. The first stage was carried out at the beginning of the 2017/2018 school year, the second one after 6 months. The results of the research were quite varied. In the vast majority of cases, children achieved an average level of their skills development, whereas in the second stage of the study, the progress in the development of these skills was noted. However, the results achieved by some children were below average and this was the basis for undertaking activities supporting the development of motor skills in the form of specialized therapeutic activities. Thus, it seems to be a reasonable thesis that the results of the conducted research can have a significant impact on determining the level of achieving school readiness in one of the essential elements and will help to develop the path of future student development using k

https://library.iated.org/view/NAZARUK2017AUT DOI: 10.21125/edulearn.2017.0534 Streszczenie: Contemporary medicine understands more and more about autism. Nevertheless, both etiology and treatment of the disorder remain a mystery. This makes autism an incurable illness. Difficulties include diagnosing children for symptoms of autism and therapy, which requires extraordinary commitment on the part of parents of an autistic child. The disease is so diverse that it is practically impossible to identify two individuals presenting identical symptoms (sings). The diagnosis, treatment, and even the definition of autism are subject to numerous publications and research. Autism is said to be a developmental disorder, typically manifested within the first three years of life secondary to a neurological disorder, which affects brain functioning. In addition, it is often referred to as a spectrum disorder, which means that its characteristic features and symptoms may have multiple and varied interrelations, from minor to major ones. The main symptoms of autism are avoidance of social communication, lack of formation of social bonds, and social isolation (seclusion). Despite the fact that the disease is not related to physical pain, it gives one a much worse type of pain - mental pain. Faces of autistic children do not show any changes indicative of autism. However, an affected child is not understood and perceived as "strange" by most of his environment. Autism affects between 2 and 5 per 5000 children. Even though it is four times more common in boys than it is in girls, developmental problems originating from autism are more severe in the case of the latter. Seventy years of research in autism have allowed one to comprehend the disease in as much as to define it, isolate its kinds and specify types of treatment.Undoubtedly, medicine is closer and closer to finding answers to questions about disease etiology, but therapy and education of autistic children, which should begin as early as possible, are becoming increasingly important, too. The process of teaching and raising autistic children should be carried out both in preschool and at home, i.e. in child's closest environment, because suitable preschool education gives autistic children a great opportunity to develop. Key Polish legislation setting forth the principles of educating autistic children in preschool includes two basic laws. The first is the Law on the System of Education, which provides for a possibility to attend all types of preschools by disabled or socially maladapted children, in accordance with their individual developmental and educational needs and predisposition. Under the Law, disabled children may attend general-access preschools together with healthy children. The second legal act is the Regulation of the Minister for National Education on the conditions of organization of education, upbringing and care of disabled children, socially maladjusted children, and children at risk of social maladjustment. The article presents a case study of an autistic child attending

https://library.iated.org/view/NAZARUK2017PHY DOI: 10.21125/iceri.2017.0787 Streszczenie: In recent years in Poland, especially since 2002 when Poland joined European Union, the popularity of preschool education has been constantly rising. The proof for such a statement are percentages which indicate that almost 98% of children aged 4-6 have been pre-schooled. In small towns, especially in rural areas, dominate pre-school kindergartens run by the local government; usually there is one large kindergarten in the municipality, there are also small kindergartens called "pre-school points", usually created at primary schools. In turn, the offer of kindergartens in the city compared to the countryside is much richer. It is true that public institutions dominate there which are run by the local authorities, however, there are also numerous non-public kindergartens run by individuals and associations. The education program framework clearly states that all behavioral and educational activities carried out by kindergartens are aimed at supporting the comprehensive development of the child and preparing for primary school. In kindergartens there are created conditions for the implementation of various forms of educational activity of the child, including physical, social, cognitive, and emotional activity. Bearing in mind the psycho-physical development of a young person, especially a pre-school child, attention should be paid to shaping and preserving certain habits related to, for example, hygiene, nutrition, health, aesthetics, physical activity, which will be of great importance in adulthood. The physical activity of a child influences the various parameters of his or her health not only today but also in the future. Specialists pay attention to the relationship between physical activity and the development of motion, body posture, nervous system, respiratory system and vegetative one. Lack of physical activity may lead to both cardiovascular diseases and obesity. These are only a few examples for the need of physical activity in person's life. Bearing in mind the lack of research on this issue, one should assume that there is a reason for doing this type of research. Pilot studies were conducted in Poland in 2017 on the territory of Lubelskie Voivodeship and they are part of a larger research project. The main purpose of the study was to diagnose the level of physical activity of children during the time spent in kindergarten. The level of physical activity of the examined group of children aged 4-6 (120 respondents) was determined by means of special measuring devices so called actigraphs. Children, at the time of the test, were carring for two days actigraphs, which looked like watches and did not make it difficult for them to participate in games and other forms of activities. Thanks to these devices the level of children's activity while staying in the kindergarten was defines precisely. On the basis of collected data, statistical analysis was performed. In the research, two types of tests were used: U Mann-Whitney and Chi s

The territorial location of the mentioned universities lies in the Polish-Ukrainian borderland. Apart from the mentioned borderland, which is a common feature of these two colleges, there are several similarities in pre-school education. According to the commonly available data, children in Poland and Ukraine start their primary education at the age of 6-7. Pre-primary education in these countries is based on curricula approved by the Ministry of Education. However, in Ukraine, there is no obligation for children aged 3 to 5 years to start pre-school education. In turn, six-year-old children in Poland undergo obligatory annual preparation. That is why it is worth conducting the research in order to see the differences in pre-school education that both sides can benefit from. As a result, the research has been undertaken to understand the functioning of the kindergartens in Lutsk, especially in the area of its facilities, equipment, organization of classes, working hours of kindergartens, the number of pre-school children in one group, and teachers' qualifications. This purpose has been expanded on the basis of data from kindergartens located on the territory of Biała Podlaska. The listed research was conducted thanks to the cooperation between these universities and researchers' stay in Ukraine in 2017. Detailed data was collected by conducting individual interviews with teachers working in kindergartens. Conclusions were drawn from the conducted research that could be used in pre-school practice. It should be noted that the presented research problem does not exhaust the fully described issue and will continue in the planned joined project.

Streszczenie: The purpose of this paper is to discuss the competences of six-year-olds in the context of school readiness. Teachers, owing to the preschool assessment, are able to evaluate the level of mastery of particular skills, namely what children have achieved, what they know, what they can do, and what they have difficulties with. Kindergarten creates favourable conditions and provides opportunities which stimulate the development of children. Thus, a child systematically acquires competences which are necessary in order to start learning at primary school. Providing information about children, preschool assessment is a useful tool not only for teachers but also for parents.
