It identifies the problem areas in the professional work of the study group, including exposure to pathogens. Design/Methodology/Approach: The study involved a group of 310 persons: nurses employed in various hospitals and medical institutions. The subjects were aged 23-50 years and above and had work experience ranging from 1 year of service to 35 years and above. The study used a diagnostic survey method based on a survey technique using a proprietary survey questionnaire. The research was administered in an online format in 2023. Findings: There are pathogenic factors at nurses' work including such factors as stress, work overload and biological factors. Regardless of the workplace, the vast majority of nursing staff described their exposure to harmful factors at very high levels. They showed a failure of active involvement and discussion concerning improving working conditions and a lack of conversation about pathogens. Practical implications: The article presents the current knowledge of pathogenic factors in medical facilities and nurses' assessment of these factors. The factors mentioned in the article hinder the professional activity of medical personnel and may lead to the occurrence of diseases. The presented results from our own research may serve some initiative in initiating activity among this professional group, including a dialogue between the medical staff and management in the reduction of the listed factors. Furthermore, it may prompt a discussion on the problems diagnosed in the research. The lack of active involvement of nurses in improving working conditions should change. Originality/Value: The authors present original research that has shown the threat from pathogenic factors in the workplace of medical staff, which significantly hinders professional activity and often causes illnesses and even results in a career change. The presentation of this topic is timely in view of the society expecting high quality medical services. The research conducted provides a basis for outlining new scientific challenges in nursing.

W prezentowanych badaniach zwrócono jednak uwagę na jeden z elementów wyglądu pracowników: widoczne sposoby zdobienia ciała. Zjawisko to jest przedmiotem licznych badań socjologicznych, psychologicznych i epidemiologicznych. Materiał i metody: Badania sondażowe przeprowadzono w okresie wrzesień-grudzień 2016 roku w placówkach służby zdrowia Lublina i Białej Podlaskiej. Autorskie kwestionariusze ankiety wypełniło 102 pacjentów poddawanych rehabilitacji. Wyniki: Stopień akceptacji zdobień ciała personelu, mierzony według pięciostopniowej skali Likerta istotnie (p <0.05) zależał od wieku, posiadania ozdób przez respondentów oraz ocenianego rodzaju zdobień, płci i ocenianej specjalności medycznej. Mediana stopnia akceptacji zdobień ciała personelu wyniosła 0 pkt. Wnioski: Co trzeci respondent nie akceptował zdobień ciała u personelu medycznego co może wpływać na budowanie negatywnego wizerunku zawodu medycznego. Prezentowane wyniki sugerują potrzebę dalszych badań nad wpływem zdobień na jakość relacji interpersonalnych w terapii. Streszczenie: In the presented research, the emphasis was put on one of the elements of employees appearance: visible ways of decorating the body. Material and methods: Surveys were conducted in September-December 2016 in health care institutions of Lublin and Biala Podlaska (Poland). 102 patients undergoing rehabilitation answered authorized survey questionnaires. Results: The degree of acceptance of body modification of the medical staff, measured according to the Likert scale of 5 was significantly dependent on age, if the respodents had body decorations themselves, and the type of decor, gender, and the assessed medical specialization. The median degree of acceptance of the body alteration of the medical personnel was 0 points. Conclusions: One third of the respondents did not accept the body alterations of the medical staff, which may have contributed to the negative image of the medical profession in general. The presented results suggest the need for further research.

On the grounds of the questionnaires it is revealed that under the condition of the digital technologies introduced in the clinics' routine, the labour relations do evolve, and such evolution causes the necessity of adaptation of labour and civil laws to the changed social and economic relations in the field of medical services in favour of some more flexible forms of labour organization.
