Autorzy: , , Background: Healthy lifestyle is a way of human activity aimed at preservation and improvement in people's health. An integral component of a healthy lifestyle is an appropriate level of physical activity. Material and methods: 646 students of I. Horbachevsky Ternopil State Medical University, Western Ukraine took part in the study. We observed male and female third year students of the Faculty of Medicine for our research. Metabolic cost for each type of physical activity was estimated in MET. The International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ) in full version was used as a research method. Results: Male students had a higher level of total physical activity compared to female students. Both female and male students had the highest level of metabolic energy consumption doing sports activities and the lowest doing housework. Female and male second year students had the highest level of total physical activity and physical activity during work compared to the students of first and third years of study. Conclusions: Male students had a higher level of total physical activity compared to female students.
